Meet the Team: Spencer Boyd

Spencer Boyd

Network Engineer

Length of time at Telcion: 2 Years

What energizes you at work?

I’ve enjoyed problem solving as far back as I can remember. I greatly enjoy taking a high-level view of a problem then going deep with troubleshooting to come to a resolution.

What drains you at work?

Lack of progress gets tiresome very quickly. Forward progress keeps me going.

What’s your biggest work pet peeve?

Lack of communication is high on the list. From my viewpoint, communications is the ‘glue’ of a team. At least for me, productivity and efficiency closely follow communication.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?

WiFi 6e presents many new aspects to wireless engineering over older standards. It would be great to wake up tomorrow and have it mastered.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?

Tuning around the amateur radio HF bands in the evening is always a highlight. Especially if DX contacts are to be had.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I’ve been interested in computers and electronics. Although I never had a clear career path, wireless has always been at the forefront of my direction.

If you could only have three apps on your smartphone, which would you pick?

That’s a tough one. I use ‘phone,’ messages, and notes the most.

What’s one hobby you’d love to get into?

Amateur radio isn’t new to me, but it does provide many different facets of interest. One facet I’d like to grow in radio operating with limited resources in the field.

What’s your favorite TV show—the one you’re always watching on repeat?

I have an old soul and my TV selections follow suit. At the moment I’m watching the original Hawaii 5-0 series.

Thanks Spencer!
