Tony Swanson
Business Technology Consultant
Years at Telcion: 4.5
So, Tony, what are your main responsibilities at Telcion?
My main job function is sales and account management that includes helping clients solve issues and maintaining those relationships, while also reaching out to prospects and seeing how Telcion can help them. Whatever I can do to help our clients and future clients out, I try to do.
What energizes you at work?
I get the most energy out of helping clients. I love being able to resolve their issues and help them find solutions that will impact their business in a positive way.I’ve always had a helpful mindset when it comes to people and businesses and working at Telcion allows me to do this. So I would say resolving any issues that clients have really gives me that boost of energy I need to get through the day.
What’s your biggest work pet peeve?
I like to help our clients and I like to help them as fast as I can. So if I’m not getting the responses that I need from vendors or people that can help fix issues, that’s a pet peeve of mine because I want to make sure these clients are getting taken care of.
How do you prefer to start your day at work?
So each day I really like to first have my coffee. And then, I always find that my days go best when I start off by talking with one of my clients or a potential new client. It really gets my motivation going.Whether it’s going into problem solving mode or just having a good conversation and catching up, that really brings energy and sets the tone for the day.
What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?
To turn a bad day around, generally I would talk to the most positive people I know and look at pictures of my family. It reminds me of why I do certain things and that with bad things going on, you know, glass half full—I still have my family and great coworkers to help get me out of that rut.
What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?
There’s two things. One is exercise—I really like to exercise and that helps me unwind and relax. And the other is playing with my kids and seeing them laugh and interacting with them. Definitely puts a smile on my face.
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Depends on the time of year! During football season, definitely watching football during the weekend. But you’ll definitely find me outdoors. I like sports—mainly basketball—and fishing. We like to do family hikes, so depending on the weather, definitely something outdoors and family-oriented.
What book are you reading now?
I’m developing in becoming a bookworm. A couple of the books that I’m really into right now are just based on family discipleship. One’s actually called “Family Discipleship” and the other one’s called “Raising a Modern Day Knight.” Both have been really enjoyable to read and great recommendations to any parent raising a family.
What’s one song or artist that you’re embarrassed to admit you like?
If a Taylor Swift song comes on the radio, I generally do not turn the channel. So take that for what it’s worth.
What’s one item you want to own that you don’t?
When I hear this question I think of frivolous spending. I would say a Tesla for sure, a Model S. I’d really enjoy having that.Or one item that I would really like to have just because I like to be so active would be a nice big hot tub that I can soak in nightly after a long day of work and exercise.
What’s your favorite TV show—the one you’re always watching on repeat?
Beat Bobby Flay, the cooking competition show. I’ve developed a real interest in cooking and enjoy cooking, so I catch myself generally on the Food Network watching cooking shows.
When you’re in Turlock around the office, where’s your favorite place to eat?
It has to be Dust Bowl. I love their food and atmosphere and it seems like any time all of us are at the office we like to spend a couple hours eating and catching up.
Thank you, Tony!
